Foods to Eat in Cold Temperatures

Foods are the main fuel of our body as it affects our organisms and when the temperature drops & the cold weather sets in, foods can help to raise your body temperature by providing you warm feelings. We know the term thermogenesis which is a heat-producing process by food metabolism and foods that take a longer time to digest, helps to raise body temperature and make you feel warmer, that’s you have to choose foods which are high in fats, proteins & carbohydrates. Winter-based countries suffer a lot in cold and after the remaining few days in cold, a steaming bowl of chicken noodle soup or a plate of warm pasta relish than any other things.  There are pretty much boundaries in the cold season about the amount of food that you can consume, moreover, you can eat as much as you take because eating more food not only keeps you warm but also makes you happier. Also, it’s better to remain indoors because of the harsh weather outside and there are certain foods that you can consume in cold weather which provides better benefits than others, some of them are given below-

 

Hot Foods:

Hot foods are best for cold weather as eating or drinking cold foods increase the sensation in our body, for example- baked noodles, casseroles, potpie, freshly baked bread, soups, roasts, etc are the most satisfying delicious foods ever. You will have a fresh taste in this food if you make it at home, but if you don’t have time to spend making these kinds of dishes, you can use a slow cooker, reducing hands-on work to about 10 minutes.

 

Mood Food:

Winter depression is a common syndrome, merely occurs in the lack of proper sunlight which is also known as S.A.D. It’s a seasonal disorder that is common in cold weather and the symptom of this disorder is feel appetence for carbohydrate-rich foods, that’s why you should consume whole grain bread, pasta, brown rice, legumes, millet, and oats. And because of consuming carbohydrate-rich foods, it is reported that some individuals can overcome this disorder which generally occurs in the winter season.

Safety sensitive means that  jobs that don’t drug test tend to be those that are not . Target only tests for safety sensitive jobs such as security guards and machine operators and Goodwill have stopped pre-employment testing for retail workers. Food For Hydration:

Cold Weather is mostly responsible for being hydrated as people don’t want to drink cold water at all and for combating this winter hydration, a cup of warm tea is an excellent option. Drinking tea can be compared with drinking eight glasses of water per day and among different types of teas, ginger tea is better than others and it will be best if you add some spice which will help to warm your body swiftly. Moreover, hot cider, a cup of coffee are other good options which you can choose instead of tea for being hydrated.

 

Food With Healthy Fats:

Fats are the main fuel of our body which acts as insulation to protect us from cold and our body uses fats for absorbing vitamin A, D, E & K and without this function vitamin deficiency can be caused which can lead to depression & damage to our body. That’s why we should consume healthy fats, such as fish, nuts, nut butter, olives, avocado, tofu, red meat, and so on.
